Blue Dream by X| Doobie Labs has a 30.72% THC number that sounds impressive — and an effect that doesn't come close to backing it up. The smoke is clean, the packaging is sharp, and the experience is completely forgettable. At $56 for 3.5g, the NYC shelf has better options.
The Buy
This is a collab release under the X| Doobie Labs banner. Blue Dream is a Blueberry × Haze cross — classically a sweet berry aroma and a clear-headed uplifting sativa effect. The strain has a 20-year reputation for being a crowd-pleaser. The problem is that "crowd-pleasing" and "nothing special" are basically synonyms. In New York's legal market with 600+ licensed dispensaries and genuinely competitive shelf space, you need to be more than just a recognizable name.
Myrcene leading a sativa is a red flag. Myrcene skews sedating — which is why this flower doesn't deliver the energetic, clear-headed lift that Blue Dream is supposed to be known for. The Pinene is present in theory but too far back to change anything about the experience.
Looks Fine. Smokes Fine. Feels Like Almost Nothing.
The buds are acceptable — medium structure, adequate trichome coverage, clean trim. Classic Blue Dream color: sage green, sparse orange pistils, no visual standout. The aroma is faint. Sweet berry with a light floral note — but you have to put your nose in the jar to catch it. That's a problem for a strain that should announce itself the moment the lid comes off.
The smoke is smooth — clean burn, light berry on the inhale, decent exhale. But at 30.72% THC on the label you expect more than a background hum. For anyone who's been buying from the NYC licensed market and knows what a proper sativa feels like, this is a disappointing $56 spend.
X| Doobie Labs — The Packaging Outperforms the Product
X| Doobie Labs has strong branding. Clean, modern, shelf-ready. They know how to position a product. The problem is presentation without substance only gets you so far. $56 for 3.5g is premium pricing that requires premium justification — and this batch doesn't provide it. We'll revisit if a stronger drop comes through a licensed dispensary. This one doesn't make the case.

There are better options at this price point on the same shelf.
Blue Dream has carried a legendary reputation for twenty years and X| Doobie Labs has the branding to do something interesting with it. This batch doesn't live up to either. The effect is mild where it should be energetic. The aroma is faint where it should be expressive. The label says 30.72% THC and the experience says otherwise. At $56 that gap is hard to forgive.
It's not a bad product — it's a mediocre one. And in a New York legal market that now stocks genuinely exceptional flower from cultivators like Aeterna, Torrwood Farm, and dada Exotics, mediocre at a premium price doesn't make the cut. Spend your money somewhere it actually shows up.
